My first graders want to soak up information and experiences by exploring everything around them. From the Reading Corner to the Science Bins and everything in between, the inquisitive minds of my students amaze me. However, all students learn differently. One of the first steps in learning is having a comfortable place to learn. With the mix of ability levels and physical needs of my students, the standard desks in my classroom are better used for group work or work stations. During a whole group floor activities, the alphabet carpet squares will allow us to be together, while giving each student a spot to call his/her own. The soft seats will be a great addition to our partner activities and wobble cushions will be perfect in our Reading Corner. Imagine a room full of little people actively engaged in lessons, learning to read together, examining the latest science experiments, and playing math games all in a comfortable classroom where everyone and their learning needs are important.
