One avenue in reaching children in this generation is technology. Technology has come a long way over the years, and I love using it to educate my students. We've already had a chance to Skype with a NASA astronomer during our solar standard but there is so much more. My biggest realization in reaching students is Flipgrid. I recently saw my most quiet and needy student completely open up when he made a campaign video on Flipgrid. It was a completely different student and was amazed at his articulation in his video. However, we do not have enough headphones for students to be completely independent. Flipgrid is one example of how students can connect to the curriculum and can be used to connect to other Flipgrids around the world. Our classroom also uses technology for remediation. I make teaching videos for students to use to when they need a little extra help or if they are absent.
