Hurricane Hives is bringing our campus to life and fully immersing our students with the opportunity to be junior beekeepers, entrepreneurs, gardeners, composters, and inquisitive learners. We already have bees coming to campus on May 20th, and we need to plant a garden to keep a consistent food source for them to prevent swarming. Without irrigation and wheelbarrows, our students will have to grow a much smaller, more limited garden. We are going to give the proceeds from the garden to a local food bank during the summer, and in the fall, our Food and Nutrition class will use fresh fruit and veggies to teach students about healthy eating! Our students are asking to expand our garden space because they understand the power of planting to feed our community and our pollinators!
