No matter a student’s socioeconomic or cultural status, all students deserve a quality, engaging education. Because many special education students who are also English language learners (ELLs) have limited background knowledge on classroom topics, additional interactive teaching before reading is extremely beneficial. Did you know that many students who are identified with a disability struggle when they enter elementary school, but gain enough specialized instruction by the upper grades, they have individual goals and accommodations to become successful? In order to help my students become proficient in the general education classroom. It is important for me to be equipped with effective and fun teaching strategies. I am asking for the opportunity to attend a conference to learn new teaching strategies that will benefit my students in special education. I would like to attend Kagan’s Winter Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. By attending this session. I will learn engaging, easy-to-implement, classroom-ready structures to increase my students comprehension of classroom content. This conference will benefit a wide range of students in all academic areas; in turn, boost student confidence, and reading abilities.
