We all know that no two students are exactly alike; they learn and grow in different ways. Incorporating more flexible seating into my classroom will help me to foster these individual needs and learning styles. Some students thrive in areas that are more structured and others need the freedom to move about while learning. Giving students the choice and flexibility of choosing their own seat is the first step in teaching them the importance of taking responsibility for their own learning. With the small amount of flexible seating we already have, my students have shown me that they can make smart choices and pick a spot where they will be the most successful. This grant will give my students the opportunity to collaborate with their classmates and build that sense of community in our classroom.
