"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow" -John Dewey In our rapidly changing, technologically advancing world, it is extremely important for our children to have access to technology for the betterment of their learning. The purpose for this project is to provide my students with access to resources that they normally would not have access to. I teach at a Title 1 School in Houston ISD where most of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and cannot even afford to print at home, let alone research. This makes it very difficult for me to provide them with project based learning opportunities and hands on activities, which at their developmental age, they need. Many of my students are visual, audio and hands on learners so giving them access to updated technology would make information more accessible to them for projects that they are assigned and make the objectives and concepts easier to comprehend. They would be able to pick a topic of interest, gather information about it and use it to create innovative and age-appropriate projects that they can feel proud of and more inclined to showcase. In addition, in today's technologically literate world, any interaction they have with technology will help improve their literacy and make them more eager to learn and explore using the new technology! By funding my project, you are helping these future leaders reach their fullest potential.
