After Covid, my Title I high school students were disengaged and endured school just to get through one more day. I tried to give them a hybrid approach--both online and tangible in class, and that was not working for my regular ed kids. So I went to what I know works. Our kids need real books in their hands, write essays by hand, and create art when needed. The goal is for the kids to connect to the story, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn for my Juniors, and Persepolis for my Sophomores, in a meaningful way, that also builds community. The Crayola pencils, the Farmhouse Scrapbook paper, the small Planner Pens, the Carpe Diem stickers, the Sharpie Twin end pens, the green Cardstock will all be utilized for my Huck Finn and Persepolis One Page projects. The kids get the freedom to choose from the art supplies which one best expresses their ideas. I will need a storage container for the smaller, thinner pens. I have pens, but they are not thin enough and that is why I realized I needed them. I have currently supplied 97% of my current classroom supplies and it adds up.
