In my language arts classroom, I hope to instill a lifelong love of reading. Students get lots of time to focus on independent choice books, class novels, and small book club groups. As a new school, we currently don't have a large number of books for students to choose from during reading time. My classroom has become an unofficial school library, and we need books that will engage all readers! There is a strong interest in graphic novels and fantasy books. Getting kids hooked on a series is one of the best ways to keep them reading. Books on the shopping list were chosen with these factors in mind. I've been borrowing books from our public library for students to use during each of our aviation and aerospace-focused projects, but it'd be wonderful to have permanent nonfiction materials available in my classroom as well.
