Each year teachers have to implement a Student Learning Objective (SLO). An SLO is a long-term academic goal that uses data to gage student learning and growth over a period of time. This year my Student Learning Objective is centered around writing. The reason for this is because my students are afraid to write. They are hyper focused on spelling every word correctly vs. learning and practicing different ways of self expression. Daily writing journals will be help me implement my SLO and give them the opportunity to express themselves daily. The ability to express oneself in writing is a much needed life long skill. Journals are an effective way to document their growth throughout the school year.
