I think sharing another medium of reading is a very powerful tool for students to connect with. I also love the technology component of Scholastic News. Sharing current events that they can relate to and understand is invaluable. It also supports our core curriculum. It also lends itself to whole group instruction, small group instruction, and ELL instruction. Reading comprehension is a skill we are always working on in our learning community. These quick reading comprehension kits will be just another way to enforce this skill. They are quick and can be administered by teacher, an aide, or parent volunteer in my classroom.
