Most of my students are from low-income backgrounds with minimal resources. Some may be fortunate to have a computer or laptop at home, but that doesn't promise much access time as the whole family usually shares it. If we have 12 Chromebooks in the classroom, I will teach my students how to carry out meaningful academic research online. I will also have them use these devices to type their writing reports and projects since that will be expected of them when they reach middle school and beyond. With these Chromebooks, students can go on the web to access free educational websites, including having access to online books at their reading levels, which is hard to come by with actual books. There are so many more resources that I can teach my students through using a Chromebook, but it all starts with having an opportunity to having access to one, with your help.
