Last year our district determined three areas of need: fluency with comprehension, effective writing, and social-emotional learning. As a Collaborative Learning Leader, it is my responsibility to read and research best practices before turning it over teachers. However, I am limited in resources and I do not have the budget to purchase books. I need Professional Development books to target our campus needs on literacy, effective writing, and social-emotional learning. I plan to read books on the three areas of need and impart this knowledge to teachers during Professional Learning Communities (by grade level and once a week). From the new learning, teachers are expected to implement strategies into their classroom, collect, analyze data, and adjust instruction as needed. As I meet with teachers throughout the school year we will also be progress monitoring student growth on fluency and effective writing using rubrics. Moreover, since all learning is social-emotional we will also address how to build relationships with students and use growth mindset feedback tools to create an environment that is conducive to learning. Our goal is to create equitable learning and demonstrate growth for all students. I know I don’t know the answers to everything, but I’m driven to finding them and taking risks.
