Students as well as adults work best when they are comfortable. Students should not be forced to sit at desks in hard chairs to complete work. As adults we sit in different places to do different things. You do not eat dinner at the same place you read a book, or pay bills. Students need to have options as to what is a comfortable way to learn and complete work. Some may feel like a pillow and a clipboard are the way to go, while others have a lot of energy and need to be moving to learn. Having flexible seating in my classroom will accommodate all types of learners.
