It can be hard to learn when your belly is empty! Often, my students will come to school without having anything to eat, mostly due to the lack of food at home such as breakfast or a snack. Something as small as a granola bar, chips, or pop tart can help aid learning in the right direction and keep it going throughout the day! If my students do not need to worry about the next time they will have the opportunity to eat again, then they can focus on the lessons being taught in class. You would be amazed at how much more willing a student is to learn once they feel safe, secure, and have a full belly.
