A larger rug will make a difference in my classroom, because the one I have now is too small for all of my students to fit on. We come to the carpet at the beginning of class for our whole group session. One part of this session is for students to listen to a read-aloud every day, and they enjoy laying back to listen to the stories. I also use this area as one of my reading centers. If all the students could fit on the rug, it would be much more comfortable for them to read on. My students are wonderful and would never complain about not all getting to sit on the rug at "carpet time" so I'd love to be able to surprise them with a new rug. I especially love that I was able to find a US Map rug. My students will love being able to see the states close up rather than from the poster high up on my wall.
