As an elementary school counselor, my “classroom” looks a little different. Sometimes it is my counseling office, sometimes it is a classroom filled with students, and sometimes it is the playground, hallway, or lunchroom. Wherever my students need me, that is where my classroom becomes. My role is to help students feel safe, supported, connected, and ready to learn. I provide classroom guidance lessons, small-group counseling, and individual support that help children build important life skills such as managing emotions, solving problems, developing friendships, handling conflict, building confidence, and making positive choices. I also work closely with teachers, families, and our school community to make sure students know they have caring adults in their corner. Many of the students I serve are learning how to navigate big feelings, challenging situations, friendships, family changes, and the everyday ups and downs of growing up. My goal is to create a welcoming space where every child feels seen, heard, valued, and reminded that they belong. The resources provided through DonorsChoose help me bring counseling to life through books, games, sensory tools, hands-on activities, incentives, and other materials that make social-emotional learning meaningful and engaging. Every donation helps me create more opportunities for students to build the skills, confidence, and connections they need to be successful—not only in school, but in life.
