A rug in the classroom creates a space for students to come together for important discussions, collaboration, and to solve problems. It gives the students a place to go to pair up, work in a small group, or work comfortably on their own. Just as importantly it makes the room inviting, and creates a positive classroom environment. It will foster the personalized, collaborative environment my students crave. Students will enjoy the flexibility and choice this new seating area gives them. I will be used daily as a non-traditional seating option for students who enjoy moving around the classroom rather than sitting at a desk all day!
