The requested novel(s) will directly help my students because it will challenge their reading levels while building new skills. Unfortunately, students, as we have known them, do not have the same interests, thought processes, or motivations when it comes to school and school work. With this novel, I believe it will capture students' interests, thoughts, and motivate them to be in school again. The novel(s), Things Fall Apart, is a story set in the late 1950s/early 1960s that addresses tribal beliefs and psychological disintegration with social unraveling, which I think can and will tie into the aftermath of many COVID-19 lockdowns and quarantine procedures that students can relate to. All in all, I truly believe this novel will be the new essential to my English classroom as the world tries to navigate the new normal with COVID-19 for building and challenging my students' reading skills.
