I am planning on turning my classroom into a mini piano lab for 1st through 4th graders. These particular pianos will be easy to for the students to set up and play. Having the headphones will let students hear their own songs without the distractions of other sounds. The books will help them learn to read music at an appropriate pace. And research abounds showing that playing an instrument helps increase reading ability, fine motor coordination, and hand to eye coordination. Kids loves to play the piano - even if they don't know how! This project will let them make music of their very own! Being successful at playing an instrument will be a huge confidence boost to many of my students. It will also give them an interest to pursue outside of school that is positive and uplifting.
