These are more than classroom supplies, they are the resources to keep our unconventional-loving classroom anything but ordinary. The tablets will become learning tools where students can work at their own pace, with individualized apps, in a portable form that provides relief to the sometimes stressful confines of chairs. The chosen children's books will help convey social skills that don't always come naturally to Exceptional Children but in a palatable form. The headphones will help the students focus on their own brain blasts, without the distractions of other mind light bulbs going off nearby. The boombox will give me the opportunity to play classic audiobooks that can only best be experienced through their original recordings. In our classroom, we jump into the mainstream, and then instead, we swim up to it. Students deserve a space that can adapt to them. These tools will help me to continuously provide evolving content and teaching strategies to help my students learn in the most beneficial way, together. Simple things like books, music, stories, and learning games will allow me to reach content to each student in the way they comprehend. These tools will help me better work with each student, and ensure they are getting the curriculum and life skills that they need.
