With the materials requested, the mental health team and counselors are hoping to use art as a form of therapy. Understanding therapy comes in different forms, we are hoping to incorporate art as a way for our students to learn self exploration, learn new ways of coping with their emotions and also introduce different ways of communicating. The materials requested will aid in being able to paint, draw, and create what our students sometimes feel inside, but cannot verbally express, with their own interpretation of their feelings. The materials will allow them to create something personal that engages them and pushes them think outside the box, hopefully to take that personal item with them as a reminder of their growth, learning and resiliency.
