Technology in the classroom allows so many opportunities to become available to all learners. Not only do opportunities become available for students, but it opens the door for continuous data collection for teachers and a way for parents to stay informed. In my classroom, I would use the iPads to enhance learning. An app called SeeSaw would allow parents to become connected and students to be able to post pictures of what they are doing in the classroom. The app also allows me to send and create individual assignments to students for completion, once completed they can share them with their families and give the teacher immediate feedback. I could go on about the various apps that have been developed to enhance student learning, but this is one that sticks out to me the most as it houses the main components of what educational technology should be meaningfully used for. The first and foremost is to provide all students with equal opportunities to be the best they can be. With the way education is heading, technology is becoming more prominent in the future jobs students will be applying for. If I can provide these meaningful experiences now at such a young age, I can only imagine the successes they will be able to achieve upon graduation. Technology in the classroom will allow me to differentiate instruction, provide meaningful, authentic experiences and most of all positively affect my students with additional options to help them reach their full potential.
