My goal is to create functional and independent adults! My students will be able to rotate through the play center daily and get a chance to develop their vocabulary, social skills, imaginations, and daily living skills. It is common for children with autism to exclude themselves and not interact with others. I want to be able to teach "play skills" at a young age so that my students have a chance to be able to join in activities, make friends, and be a part of a group when they grow up. The sensory items help my students focus and stay engaged so that they will be able to complete their tasks or lessons. This skill will be helpful for them as they grow up and plan to get a job after high school.
