This is an assembly for a room escape lockbox in which students develop high level critical thinking skills and the all-important collaboration skills. Throughout the year, I have designed unit beginning or unit review games (such as Mystery Inc. explores Energy and A Journey to Space) that require students to search for clues, solve the puzzles, and work together to unlock the 6-combo box! I have used room escape puzzles for many years, and students love them. Plus, they find them rewarding and engage in real-world topics and skills. The best part about a room escape box is that the lesson plan can be crafted to any grade and any topic. While I plan to utilize this first for my 8th grade science scholars, my school does not have this resource; therefore, this room escape game could be tailored by any of our 60 teachers to use in school. Thank you for your consideration and investment into science, math, and life skills that American students need!
