My 7th grade social studies students at SMS begin each school year learning about the continents of Africa and Asia. For many US students, it is difficult to imagine the struggle to get water or what it is like to be denied the right to an education. By having a classroom set of A Long Walk to Water and I am Malala, my students will be able to gain a better understanding of these global struggles that we learn about in class, while also improving their literacy skills. This classroom set of books will be added to our growing classroom library.
