We all communicate with the world around us without giving it a second thought. But what if you had no voice or could not use your voice efficiently to get your needs met? Many of my students are non-verbal and struggle with telling us what they need or how they feel. This iPad, with the addition of an application for a communication system, will give a voice to our students with complex communication needs. This dynamic and motivating tool will increase our students ability to be independent with their communication and with their lives at school. Speech therapy is an activity that my students really enjoy, but there's only so much that we can do with low-tech materials to serve the specific needs of our students. I have watched my students use similar applications for communication in the the past and have seen the powerful impact that communicating on their own has.
