Adding sensory pathways to the hallways at my school will provide the students with opportunities for purposeful movement breaks. Structured movement breaks are important to improve focus and attention. Sensory pathways will also provide a cool down for students who need a break when they are feeling frustrated. This will provide an opportunity for self-regulation and allow students to stay engaged in class. Overall, a sensory path will help the progress of daily student work. The Pathways will also give my students another opportunity to practice skills such as balance, hopping, skipping and other important locomotor skills. These skills are important for my students' physical development.
