In my class we read and write EVERY DAY. The Magna Doodle will be used by the teacher as a great way for me to model writing quickly to students Students can also use this board to quickly erase their work to write some more! The listening phones will also help us during independent literacy work time. Kids will use them when they are reading independently. The various markers and paint pens, will help my students get excited about writing and even the most reluctant learners eager to write letters, words, and sentences. Students will use these materials to write sight words and stories in their shared writing notebooks. They will encourage kids to choose writing during independent work time when I add them to the Daily 5 choices. Students get excited about reading when they become part of the story! The Finger puppets and figurines will help my students meet grade level standards of telling and retelling familiar stories such as "The Gingerbread Man" and "The Three Little Pigs." These items along with the other manipulatives will add STEM into our class literacy time by allowing students to create story scenes that will be an extension to the stories they write. They will be able to share these stories by taking photos and video to share.
