Each AVID student 9-12 at my school will be given a nice academic planner to write down assignments and opportunities. In the past the school has provided planners for each student but this was cut from the budget this year. Time management is hard to teach. Writing down things on an agenda is a skill we should be teaching every student. Teachers will enforce planner use and give students rewards for writing down class assignments and out of class responsibilities. I have found that without a written account of work to be done students forget homework. Planners are also a good communication tool for parents.
