One of my students came down to the counseling center and asked if there was any way that she could check out a calculator, so she could work on her math assignments at home. The graphing calculators our math teachers use are expensive, and most of our students cannot afford to have their own. When I checked with one of our math teachers, she said that she has several students who ask to borrow calculators. However, she only has one class set that has working batteries. The goal is this project is to remove this obstacle for students, and provide them with access to calculators they can check-out and take home. Our math teacher does have an extra set of calculators, but there are no batteries. By funding this project, not only can students use these calculators, but since they batteries are rechargeable we will be able to continue to provide students with this resource over and over again.
