Students within the Communication and Education Support program learn in a diverse way. Many of our students have autism or a learning disability. We embrace a neuro-diverse learning environment and aim to meet each child where they are with the tools that support their learning. Our teacher team adapts curriculum across the school day to meet the needs of each student and provide them an accessible school environment.
I am requesting a printer, ink, laminating sheets and velcro dots for access to adapted materials and modalities. For many of our students, visual supports provide access to daily routines and activities. Visuals aid with communication - including both expressive and receptive language - and encourage students to participate in daily activities. There is strong research supporting the use of visual aids to support students with autism and this evidence-based approach is one we highly value within our classrooms.
In order to make this possible, we need a few materials! Our original teacher-funded printer has officially retired and we are hoping for a new color printer to support our team. To accompany our "Lamination Station," we would love laminating paper, colored ink, and velcro tabs. All of these materials will certainly be put to good use!
