By donating to our project, the students in my class will be able to use their Chromebooks with the advantage of listening to stories read aloud. This donation will also allow our class to have a variety of books to read independently within our class library. Most of the books in our class library were passed on to me by a very nice, retired teacher and now our books have become damaged throughout many uses. I would like to incorporate storybooks in our library about growth mindset, multicultural stories, and some of the other well-known stories. Close to half of my students are not reading at grade level, so they need many opportunities to practice reading. If these students could use headphones to listen to stories being read aloud, they could gain more practice with reading. We have discussed in our classroom how important it is to practice reading on a daily basis. When students get the opportunity to read stories they choose and interest them, then they learn to love to read. My students and I would appreciate it greatly if we can accomplish this goal.
