The items I am requesting will help keep my students safe and healthy. We spend 90% of our school day in the community; riding the bus and trolley, walking busy city streets, learning vital job skills in various vocational settings. The majority of my students come from low income homes and rarely have reusable water bottles or money to purchase water in the community. They also rarely have sunglasses or umbrellas. Since our learning happens in real life environments, outside the traditional classroom, my students would greatly benefit from access to water, proper eyewear, and umbrellas. These items will keep my students healthy and protected from the harsh elements while learning to become more independent participants in our community.
