These materials will be used regularly to enhance students' vocabulary skills and comprehension skills in a fun and engaging way. These skills are critical in becoming a successful reader. In 3rd grade, we hit vocabulary hard because students are at the age where they begin to learn prefixes and suffixes and how to use context clues to determine the meaning of an unknown word. Also in 3rd grade, is typically when students start to transition from Learning to Read to Reading to Learn! This goes hand in hand with the comprehension materials that I am asking for. It will help them to gain a deeper understanding of what they are reading and learning. Students will use these materials daily during independent and small group time. If school is to let out due to the pandemic, I will be able to make copies of some of the materials to send home with them.
