What better way to build camaraderie and life-long friendships than a monthly Arts and Crafts lunch group for girls! My students always ask to come to my room during their lunch period, but I never have anything fun for them except dancing to Go Noodle videos. That is why I decided to form a monthly lunch group where they can work on arts and crafts projects in a fun, safe environment full of laughter and creativity.
Materials such as Dream Catcher Kits and Perler Beads with stencils will be fun activities for the girls to socialize over. Not to mention the added benefits of building their language skills, as they are ESL students! In particular, my hope is that by working on projects and asking each other for help and ideas, this group can be a comfortable environment for the students who are just learning English to experiment with the English language and begin to learn social language.
During our first meeting, we went on social media and gathered ideas about projects to do. So far the girls really want to make dream catchers, glow in the dark fairy jars, lava jars, sand jars slime, perler beads, and more! All the materials requested for this project will help make this lunch group a huge success!
Thank you all :)
