While we know we have access to online dictionaries, the actual task of locating unknown words in a physical dictionary cannot be replaced. When students first begin to locate words, they have a physical connection to texts that cannot be replaced by the Internet or a screen. Everything from working on eye-hand coordination, increasing abc skills, to expanding their vocabulary and word knowledge is all the more reason to have a "hands-on" experience with these important tools. Help our classroom continue this important tradition and essential skill by getting texts in the hands our students.
