The headphones have been such a success. There has been a huge shift in the performance and behavior of the students grades tk-6th. Before they used to chatter and get easily distracted by goingons across the room but now, after they checkout their library books, they sit down and actively engage with their books. They are able to sustain concentration for longer. Some of the emotionally disturbed students have less outbursts. The behavioral shift has been very noticeable that I have inspired other teachers to inquire on how they can also get noise-canceling headphones for their classrooms.","fullyFundedDate":1777997389536,"projectUrl":"project/noise-canceling-headphones-for-library/10232377/","projectTitle":"Noise-Canceling Headphones for Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Olivas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10312691_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760521986548","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/vinestreeteslibrary"},{"teacherId":1216940,"projectId":10149543,"letterContent":"Thank you so much to Donors Choose and all the generous supporters who made this project possible. Your contribution is more than just a donation - it is an investment in their curiosity, growth, and confidence. \r\n\r\nThese books are already making a difference in how my students approach reading and learning. With a wider variety of titles and topics, they can explore new interests, see themselves reflected in stories, and build stronger literacy skills. The excitement of choosing a book they genuinely enjoy has helped foster a love of reading that extends beyond the classroom. It also encourages meaningful discussion, critical thinking, and a deeper connection to the content we study.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students have more opportunities to succeed academically and develop both a lifelong appreciation for learning and a love of reading. It would have been impossible for us to start this Volleyball program without your help. Simply, impossible. We ran up against red tape after regulation, apathy, jealousy and indifference within our own School District. There is no funding for Elementary schools to participate in sports. But, because of you, there was a way! We were able to keep our promises to our students that deserve as much of an opportunity as students in any neighborhood here in Los Angeles! \r\n\r\nAs we first met in our home gym, the mood was tense, and the students seemed hesitant. How can we practice here? But as they settled in and saw their uniforms, their knee & Elbow pads, and all their special training equipment, their eyes lit up and I was attacked by zealous players, grabbing all the equipment they needed. \r\n\r\nJust how generous you were was reflected in our first match! Although we were an Elementary school going up against a Middle School with funding, our Equipment, and Uniforms were 2nd to none! Some of the opposition even commented on how well equipped we were. That is all thanks to you. \r\n\r\nAs we plan our next matches, I can do so with confidence knowing my Kids are well protected, they have what they need to face any opponent because there are generous, and Kind people like you that help them see that they do matter, they can compete, and they are not alone in their pursuit to be the best. All of the items have made a meaningful difference in our classroom. The students love to sit and read in our library, which is now a cozy and inviting space thanks to our beautiful new floor pillows. Everyone agrees that our library is now a very comfortable and inviting space. The folders are used for reading passages that students read at home. They were really excited about these, as they were their idea for a way to help them improve their reading. With an ample supply of pencils, students can fully participate in lessons and activities without interruption. \r\n\r\nStudents were especially enthusiastic when the materials arrived. They immediately expressed their joy and gratitude, and immediately began putting the items to good use. It's been incredible to see how this simple addition has helped support their well-being and encouraged independent reading.\r\n The chalkboard calendar and markers have brought a new level of engagement to our classroom routines.
