It's been incredible to see how this simple addition has helped support their well-being and encouraged independent reading.\r\n The chalkboard calendar and markers have brought a new level of engagement to our classroom routines. We were all so very excited to receive our books! As our photos clearly show, every single student is engaged in the reading one of our new books: \"Flora and Ulysses.\" The students love to follow along and have improved their comprehension skills significantly because of that engagement and interest in the books we are reading. \r\n\r\nWe have the most satisfying and rich discussions and can cover so many reading comprehension strategies in an effective, authentic way. My students have become very proficient in analyzing characters, making predictions and connections to other literature, as well as their own personal experiences. They know about personification, can compare and contrast, as well as recognize foreshadowing. Their vocabulary has improved tremendously (especially with this particular book, which is rich in higher level words). My students were so excited to receive these Apple pencils and couldn't wait to start using them. Technology has become such an integral part of education and its great when you can find a new resource to enhance student's learning.\r\nWe have been working on the writing process and creating stories and with the Apple pencils we have the ability to present those stories in new and exciting ways. Students can draw pictures and and use them as inspiration for their writing. My kids have been working on an animation unit and the pencils give them the ability to create their own animations using apps on their iPads.
