My students are wonderful, outgoing and social children. However, in our classroom we're working on our social and emotional needs. Some of these kids carry big burdens during the day so our self-contained classroom needs to be a place of safety and comfort for them. Nine of my students spend most of the day in this room, and I want them to feel comfortable and confident enough to work through their social and academic needs.My goal is to be the safest place for these kids to go in the school. They should feel like our classroom is a "home sweet classroom!" I’m trying to provide some comfortable changes for my classroom including some lights, some comfortable seating, and a way to really change the lighting in the whole room. These changes will make our cool down corner much more successful than it is now.
