Comfortable and flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. When we sit as a whole in the meeting area a soft bottom rather than a cold hard floor will keep them comfortable and more focused. Not to mention, the colors make it more welcoming! My students also have the option to do independent and partner work in other parts of the classroom besides their desks. By making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them and assuring they feel safe in a new environment. They tend to make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed.

About my class
