The purpose of this project is to observe and learn from my hero in music education, Ron Alvarez Davies. In April 2016, Alvarez started the Dream Orchestra with a handful young boys from a refugee-accommodation south of Gothenburg. Now the Gothenberg-based orchestra mentors, educates, and inspires young refugee children from Afghanistan, Syria, Albania and Somalia. Davies's success is derived from his outstanding conducting and teaching practices and strong curriculum, two areas in which I intend to study, reflect, and enact in my classroom's orchestra. Davies has been internationally recognized for his work, and I intend to incorporate his teaching style, repertoire ideas, and concert programming in my school's orchestra program.
