These materials will help my students gain a better grasp on what it takes to interact more socially. By having more fun game activities we will be able to pair the students up and they will work on things like: gaining attention appropriately, eye contact, sharing or asking for a turn. Sensory items will help with some of our students that need that textile support. The books are a big help in our students seeing and understanding what our social emotional interactions are all about. The look on a students face when they realize that they just made a friend and their eyes beam with excitement and joy, this is why we focus on social interaction. We like to act out different scenarios, we do everything the wrong way first, then the correct way to show how it should be done. This might seem a little silly but it really helps to give clear and concise directions. Ex.: Wrong way: Pull someones hair to get their attention. Right way: tap their shoulder, look at their eyes, and say their name.
