Flexible seating has been a dream of mine this year. I was able to obtain a standing table, two wobbly tall chairs, one isolated table, a long table, and a carpet with a bean bag for students to choose from. Overall, my room still looks like a regular high school classroom with a little more options. My line is special education english. I teach resource and inclusion. A lot of my students are low energy because of food, heat, low reading levels, and/or trauma from home. As a teacher, my hope is to help and guide students to success. Hawaii is known to be this paradise, yet we're a place of a shortage of teachers, underfunded, and deal with high expenses living. The reality for a lot of my students is that they're afraid to go to college because it's too expensive, but they also lack motivation because they don't see a future of success. That is something I want to change with my students. I want to show them how education is an out for them. That they can succeed and pursue anything they put their mind to, but that also means that they have to put the work in and it won't be easy.
