The novels selected for the students to use in my classroom represent a higher Lexile that will challenge my students while allowing them to experience reading different genres of writing. The selected novels are a mixture of realistic fiction, historical fiction, nonfiction, drama, poetry, and dystopian writing. These novels will allow my students to apply the knowledge they have learned in class to analyze the different parts of these mentor texts. Reading these novels together in class will hopefully foster a deeper appreciation for reading and will help students realize the joy of reading a variety of genres.

About my class
