The students I teach rarely come to the classroom prepared with a pencil and paper. Paired with the fact that pencils are expensive and paper is wasteful and not good for the environment, students enjoy using whiteboards for classroom activities. Whiteboards in the classroom allow me as a teacher to quickly assess students' understanding of a concept. If an answer is incorrect, they can simply erase and start again. A lot easier than a pencil and paper. When reviewing a topic I usually like to play a game. Whiteboards are easily integrated into games or other classroom activities. Students hold up the whiteboard with their answers and I can quickly check their accuracy.
