A 21st century classroom looks very different than classrooms of the past. The traditional model, that includes students sitting in a chair at a desk all day, no longer works for many students. With student achievement and engagement in mind, it is time to adapt my classroom to fit the needs of the 21st century learners in my classroom. Research shows that learning environments can have a direct impact on student achievement and behavior. By including flexible seating options in my classroom, I'll be able to meet a variety of student needs, increase engagement and motivation, and increase physical well-being through additional movement. The wobble chairs and floor seats requested will provide choices about classroom seating, increase focus and motivation, and introduce more movement throughout the day. Students will be able to choose a seating position that helps them learn best. The end result will be improved academic performance for all students.
