"To learn to read, is to light a fire." Over the last couple years I have specifically been teaching English Language Arts. It is extremely important to constantly be updating, restocking, and refilling my classroom library to keep students interested and motivated to want to read. My students are obsessed with graphic novels, but I have come to realize that my classroom library is in need of some exciting non-fiction novels too! Students will be able to continue checking out the new and fresh variety of books one week at a time to focus on completing their independent reading assignments and to keep them engaged for future discussions. As their educator it is more than heart warming to hear students discuss the current books they are reading outside of class-to see them so engaged in a book that they “argue” with you and say “but wait let me finish this one last page” at the end of class, and to see them develop how to learn to love reading.
