As an elementary school counselor, I provide my students with social/emotional services, academic and career development. This year I will deliver school-wide classroom lessons focused on College and Career Readiness. In sixth grade I will introduce my students to post-secondary education options and they will complete a strength interest inventory. My 6th grade students will also research their top career from their interest inventory and identify some of the following areas: skills needed, training/education level, career cluster, job outlook, responsibilities and describe their interest for the selected career. This college field trip is an opportunity for my students to make real life connections with their college and career learning. During the college field trip my 6th grade students will participate in educational activities, a campus tour (visit library, labs, lecture classrooms), have lunch on campus and attend the San Diego State University Women’s Basketball game for free. This field trip is a wonderful educational activity that will motivate students to develop and work towards their future college and career goals.
