Having books available for the students will only help foster a learning environment, and an opportunity to reap the rewards of reading: improve vocabulary and writing, encourage compassion and empathy, travel through character’a minds and develop a healthy reading habit. Books are limited in our classroom. I want students to have a variety of different books, and chances to read different books. My classroom library is their chance. Students will participate in book clubs, and a variety of enrichment activities to foster their love for the written word. They will keep thought logs and travel journey's with different characters. They will write letters to the authors, connect the texts to their lives and the lives of others. Students will be actively engaged with the reading by working together and discussing themes and author’s craft and reflecting on their own lives. Books take students on journeys. My students need to journey out of Anaheim.
