With these books, my students will be able to read grade-level, award winning appropriate books. I will utilize these texts within the library as well by having the students complete writing assignments such as summarizing, annotating, paraphrasing, prediction, and literary elements and STEAM projects. I also encourage reading not for a score on a test but for the pleasure in and of itself. We are not big on using reading programs such as Accelerated Reader. We encourage our students to read books of interested in order to foster a deeper level of understanding and comprehension since students read more now that they are not confined to a reading level.

About my class
