During the month of Black History Month, I am requesting financial support to assist my school with having this presenter come to our school to show the movie Push-Out. This movie and event would be a great way to build awareness and create a dialogue about African American females in the school system. At my school, our African American population is 45% of the total population, however out of the total percentage of students that were suspended last year, 75% of them were African American students. Not only would this be a great value for students to voice their opinions and share their stories with one another. This will be useful for staff and administrators to hear the student's perspectives after the movie screening.
